PROGRAM PILLAR 04 | DROHA UGANDA STRATEGIC PLAN 2024–2028

Championing Gender Equality, Dignity, and Clean Water Access

Advancing women’s rights, preventing gender-based violence, expanding SRHR education, and providing clean water and inclusive sanitation across Eastern Uganda.
SOCIAL & SANITATION CONTEXT

Restoring Health, Rights, and Dignity in Vulnerable Rural Communities

Smallholder farming families across Jinja, Kamuli, Mayuge, and surrounding districts rely directly on predictable rainfall and fertile topsoil. However, rising temperatures, prolonged droughts, unpredictable seasonal shifts, and soil degradation severely threaten household food security and income stability.

Droha Uganda’s Climate Justice & Environmental Resilience program equips smallholders and rural communities with adaptive tools and sustainable technologies. We promote climate smart agriculture, soil conservation, clean energy access, and community led reforestation to ensure farming families build long-term environmental and economic resilience.

Community Clean Water Systems

Installing and rehabilitating solar powered boreholes and community water points in remote, underserved rural areas across Jinja, Kamuli, Mayuge, and Luuka.

Inclusive WASH & School MHM

Implementing Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) to eliminate open defecation and supplying reusable MHM kits and private changing facilities in primary and secondary schools.

RIGHTS & SANITATION SOLUTIONS

Integrated Interventions for Lasting Dignity

Community Led GBV Referral Networks

Establishing trained community paralegals and focal persons across Busoga parishes to offer confidential case management, survivor linkage, and legal advocacy.
